The 37-year-old US citizen held for allegedly smoking onboard AI-130 London-Mumbai flight, trying to open the emergency exit midair and kicking fellow flyers last week refused to pay Rs 25,000 bail amount on Monday, saying he would only pay Rs 250 since an online search had showed him this was the fine to be paid under the Indian Penal Code Section 336. The accused, Ratnakar Dwivedi, who claimed to be an entrepreneur, was sent to Arthur Road jail on Monday evening, despite the Andheri metropolitan magistrate S A R Sayed granting him bail on the condition that he would not leave the country without prior permission of the court.
