A special NIA court in Delhi on Wednesday handed concurrent life terms to Kashmiri separatist and JKLF chief Yasin Malik for funding terror in J&K and waging war against the state, rejecting his contention that he had adhered to the Gandhian principle of non-violence and spearheaded "a peaceful struggle" since giving up armed militancy in 1994.

‘लाख छुपाओ छुप न सकेगा, राज़ है इतना गहरा’। यह गीत कोरोना संकट के बीच सभी सरकारों की पोल खोलता है। कोरोना का संकट बढ़ चुका है, उससे निपटना सरकारों के बस की बात है नहीं। तो अब सरकारें और उनके दरबारी विशेषज्ञ आंकड़ों को दबाने में जुटे हुए हैं। शुरुआत सरकारी आंकड़े से करते हैं। हम करीब 3 लाख पॉजिटिव केस के आंकड़े पर हैं। हर 16 दिन में संख्या दुगनी हो रही है। यानी 15 अगस्त आते-आते आंकड़ा 40 से 50 लाख के बीच पहुंच जाएगा। रफ्तार धीमी भी हुई तब भी अक्टूबर में आंकड़ा दो करोड़ पार कर सकता है। लेकिन सच्चाई सरकारी आंकड़ों से भी भयावह है। कोरोना की लपेट में आए कई लोग डर के मारे या सरकारी तंत्र के चक्कर में टेस्ट ही नहीं करवा पा रहे। देश के प्रमुख वैज्ञानिकों के समूह ‘इंडियन साइंटिस्ट रिस्पांस टू कोविड-19’ (INDSCICOV) का मानना है कि वास्तव में देश में पॉजिटिव केस सरकारी आंकड़े से बीस या तीस गुना ज्यादा हैं। यानी अभी देश में पॉजिटिव केस की संख्या एक करोड़ के करीब होगी। अब तो इस सच को सरकार ने भी अनायास ही स्वीकार कर लिया है। इंडियन काउंसिल ऑफ मेडिकल रिसर्च द्वारा देशभर में करवाए गए सेरोलॉजिकल सर्...
